Compute the probability of a family chosen at random having :

(i) 2 girls (ii) 1 girl (iii) No girl

(i) Total no. of families n(S) = 1800

Event = {2 girls}

n(E) = 700

P(E) = ?

∴        P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 700/1800 = 7/18

(ii) Event = {1 girl}

n(E) = 850

P(E) = ?

∴     P(E) = n(E)/n(S)

= 850/1800

= 17/36

(iii) Event = {No girl}

n(E) = 250

P(E) = ?

∴    P(E) = n(E)/n(S) = 250/1800 = 5/36
