The uterine cycle consists of four distinct stages as follows :
(i) Menstruation: It lasts for about five days.
(ii) Follicle stage: From the end of menstruation to the release of ovum, it lasts for 10-14 days.
(iii) Ovulation: It is the release of ovum from the ovary.
(iv) Corpus
 luteum stage : It lasts from ovulation to menstruation for about 10-14 days.
