2 (x -3) – 3 (x - 4) = 12

⇒ 2x – 6 – 3x + 12 = 12

⇒ -x + 6 = 12

⇒ -x + 6 – 6 = 12 – 6

(Subtracting 6 from both sides)

⇒ -x = 6

∴ x = -6
